IT security must clearly link to human security needs and concerns for data protection to make sense to people. This involves approaching data protection more holistically, considering the social, political, cultural and economic as well as the technical - often called "cyber security".

Royal Holloway developed a programme of creative security engagement methods to tease out how digital security relates to everyday life, and create spaces for people to discuss what cyber security means to them.
